GCUC UK

The industry built on community mostly talks to itself.

Most industry conferences are built by event people, for sponsors. The stage fills up with whoever bought the tier, and the room fills up with whoever already knew about it.

I came at GCUC UK from the other direction. I'd spent six years running coworking spaces before I ever produced a conference. Opening buildings, holding communities together, watching what actually makes someone renew.

So the question I run the programme against isn't "who will draw a crowd?" It's: who is doing this work, and are they on the stage?

GCUC is the world's largest coworking conference series. The UK edition had to be more than the global format in a British postcode. It had to sound like the operators actually working here.

Two conferences a year now. London for scale and the City. Manchester because the conversation about flexible work is not a London conversation.
